Let’s talk about the mantra: “Work hard, play hard,” and how I take it to the next level with photography. I refuse to let any moment—epic or mundane—slip away without capturing it. Whether it’s with my GoPro, DSLR, or just my camera phone, I’m always on point to snap a picture or hit record.
Last year, my phone stored 11,865 photos. My kids think my phone is a permanent extension of my hand, and they might be right. Life is a mix of unforgettable experiences and little moments that seem insignificant until you look back at them. Like when I dove with sharks or when my 12 year old daughter overdid face makeup to change into a goth rock star. These moments are priceless and immortalized thanks to my addiction of photo-documentation.
Taking so many photos means I have to be selective with my editing. It’s like a digital Hunger Games, where only the strongest (or most aesthetically pleasing) survive. But oh, the reward! After editing down the masses, I end up with some truly epic images that make me smile, laugh, or tear up with heavy nostalgia.
So here’s my advice: ABC – always be capturing.
Capture those precious moments and even the mundane ones, because one day, you’ll look back and realize that those seemingly ordinary times were what made life extraordinary.
